“We’ve been to two events so far and it’s been great,” Katie said. “The first was a charity night organised by the High Sheriff. We greeted people and helped them to their seats as they arrived. We met lots of different people and it was nice to do it in our roles as cadets.”
Their second task involved prize giving at Sutton Coldfield Fun Run.
“We were tasked with handing out the medals to the finishers”, explains Amelia. “It was a great experience and so nice to be part of the day.
“We didn’t know what to expect from the role, but we’re thrilled to be involved. We’re looking forward to getting out and about even more throughout the year.”
Dave Ward, WMFS Prevention Business Partner, supports Cadet Leaders with their groups. He said: “We’ve never had cadets from the West Midlands support our High Sheriff in this way and, so far, it’s been a worthwhile experience for them.
“Amelia and Katie have been excellent cadet members in the group, and they are more than deserving of the opportunity to undertake this role. I wish them all the success in their future endeavours.”
