House fire, Hill Avenue, Wolverhampton

At 6.49pm on 17 September 2024, we received calls to reports of a house fire on Hill Avenue, Lanesfield, Wolverhampton.

Fire engines from Bilston, Dudley, Wolverhampton and Tipton attended. Supported by an aerial ladder platform from Walsall.

The incident involved a fire in the first-floor bedroom of a semi-detached property. The fire affected 100% of the bedroom and 100% of the roof space of the property.

Two male occupiers of the property had exited before the fire service arrived.

The two men received precautionary checks from West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics, who were at the scene.

The fire was confirmed extinguished by 8.08pm.

Crews then began cutting away and damping down and used fan equipment to clear smoke from the property. Using a thermal image camera, they checked for any hot spots and fire spread to the affected, and adjoining, properties.

Further revisits were conducted at 11.03pm and again at 7.06am with no hot spots or issues found. Our crews left the scene for the final time at 08.18am on 18 September 2024.

The cause of the incident was identified to be an electrical fault with a television in the bedroom.
