Leabrook Road North, Wednesbury, UK
A burst water main in Wednesbury has led to flooding, with some residents being without water and electricity since this morning. Up to 700 properties were without power, but the majority of households have now had electricity returned, with only a very small number still affected, but very soon to be reconnected. WMFS have been working alongside South Staffs Water and multi agency partners to keep residents and motorists safe. 25 firefighters and 8 officers from WMFS crews and Technical Rescue Unit have been in attendance with a rescue sled, a High Volume Pump unit (HVP) and 5 fire engines, supported by 3 fire personnel from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service. Road closures are still in force with the following roads affected: South Staffordshire Water are working hard to return water to affected households. They are in the process of recharging the mains, which should be completed later today. It’s been reported that up to 8000 homes have been without water. Bottled water has been provided and more is being arranged, especially for those residents considered vulnerable and medically dependant. It has been advised that as the water supply returns, residents may experience discoloured water. They should continue to run the tap until the water runs clear before using it for drinking or cooking. Updates on electricity can be found here Updates on water can be found here

WMFS are working tirelessly alongside multi-agency partners to distribute supplies. Bottled water and bags of water are now available at The Sons of Rest Building, 1 Foley St, Wednesbury, WS10 9HG.
WMFS crews were on site at the flooding in the Leabrook Road area until the early hours of this morning. Fire Service personnel also aided in water distribution from the Gallagher Retail Park. The scene was handed over to South Staffs Water (SSW) at 2am with the water level significantly reduced. SSW worked throughout the night to repair the burst water main. It has now been confirmed that water has been restored to all customers. Customers may see discolouration, and should run taps until the water runs clear. Discoloured water should NOT be drunk or used in cooking. Some customers in a small part of Tipton may experience interruptions to their supply whilst SSW continue working in the area. They expect this to be resolved within the next 90 minutes. A generator was set up last night by National Grid for the handful of residents still without electricity. They will be reconnected today. WMFS crews have returned to the church on Leabrook Road North this morning to assist with standing water in the cellar. SSW will be involved in a clean up operation of leaves and debris today, which will help the natural drainage of the remaining water. Roads still remain closed.
