Metal recycling plant fire, Oak Lane, Kingswinford
West Midlands Fire Service tackles fire at Kingswinford metal recycling facility. Seven fire engines and specialist crews on scene to contain the blaze.

Shortly after 11.10pm on Sunday 26 January, we responded to Oak Lane, Kingswinford.
Initially, seven fire engines from Brierley Hill, Dudley, Stourbridge, Tipton, Haden Cross, Bilston, and Woodgate Valley responded. A hydraulic aerial platform from Oldbury and a 4×4 brigade vehicle from Perry Barr, as well as a fire engine from Wombourne Fire Station in Staffordshire, also attended the scene.
Around 50 firefighters tackled a fire inside a metal processing container at a scrap metal recycling site. The fire was contained to the affected container. Firefighters have applied water and foam to the fire throughout the night, and a foam blanket has been established.
This morning, fire colleagues from Warwickshire attended, supporting West Midlands crews by providing foam to continue fighting the fire, which remains under control and contained.
An emergency evacuation point was established at offices opposite the main entrance of the incident. There have been no casualties or injuries.
Police colleagues closed roads between Ham Lane and Oak Lane, but access to neighbouring businesses is now permitted. West Midlands Police are manning cordons, and highways staff are supporting them.
National Grid engineers isolated electricity to the affected container and Severn Trent Water staff are also in attendance.
As of 9.57am, six WMFS fire engines, a hydraulic aerial platform and a fire engine from Coleshill Fire Station are in attendance.

Crews have been making good progress at this incident.
We have been working with West Midlands Police to make the area safe and reduce the outer corden for this incident to allow local businesses to resume their work.
We’ve scaled down our resources at the scene to three fire engines. Our hydraulic aerial platform has left the incident. Our colleagues from Warwickshire have also been released.
Our crews have continued applying a foam blanket to the affected container and are closely monitoring the scene.
Crews have continued to make good progress.
The use of foam has been discontinued and crews have been using two main jets to cool the affected machinery.
It’s expected that the remaining crews will leave the scene in the next hour, after handing over to the owner of the premises, who is in attendance.
Further revisits will be conducted during the evening and night to ensure no additional firefighting action is required.
